The Department of Education at Moran Mahila Mahavidyalaya was established in 1992 with the goal of providing quality education to women in the region. Initially, the department offered courses in Higher Secondary (H.S.), providing foundational education in the field. In the academic year 1993-94, the Education Department received approval from Dibrugarh University to offer a general course. This permission marked a significant step in expanding the department's academic offerings. Later, in the year 1996-97, the department was granted authorization to introduce a major course, further enhancing its educational programs and providing students with more specialized opportunities for study. In the academic year 1998-99, the department introduced the major course in Education, beginning with a modest intake of just two students and three dedicated faculty members. Despite these humble beginnings, the department has steadily grown and evolved over the years. In 2023, as part of the ongoing transformation in line with national educational reforms, the department began offering the FYUGP (Four-Year Undergraduate Program) under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which aims to provide a more holistic and multidisciplinary approach to higher education. Additionally, recognizing the increasing importance of digital literacy, the department introduced an add-on course in Computer DTP (Desktop Publishing), further enhancing students' employability and technical skills. This progression reflects the department's commitment to adapt to contemporary educational needs while continuing to uphold its legacy of academic excellence.
