The Department of History is one of the pioneer department which was opened with the establishment of Moran Mahila Mahavidyalaya on 8th July 1992. The department offers both Major and Minor Courses in Four Year Undergraduate Programme as per NEP guidelines. Presently the department has three regular and one guest faculty to guide the students in their curriculum. It enrolls a good number of students at undergraduate level. Besides, hundreds of students opt history as a subject at senior secondary level. It has a departmental library consisting of essential textbooks, reference books, various chronicles, journals of national and international repute, souvenirs of historical importance etc. The department has also drawn up a plan to open a well-equipped archive and museum very shortly. Many students of the department have got placement at different fields after passing out with flying colours from this department.
Vision:
Keeping in tune with the vision of the college the department seeks to promote female education, inculcate high values through liberal education, and develop responsible citizens with a broad outlook on life and a deep sense of social responsibility. Hence, the department focuses on three main visions. Firstly, it endeavours to popularise History and its study. The department organises awareness programmes in neighbouring schools to draw interest among students about studying History and its relevance. Secondly, the department gives prominence to impart quality education to students to acquire the life skill and earn perfect knowledge. The department embraces various student centric measures like remedial classes, mentor-mentee system, seminar among the students, group discussion, field study based project, home assignment etc. It also organises special lecture and symposium with invited resource person. In addition to this, the department encourages the students to join extension activities and community work to take social responsibilities and through this to contribute to the nation at large.
